Military training at Officer Candidate School is comprised of four broad categories:

Room & Personnel inspection
Room & Personnel inspection
Room & Personnel inspection

Military Training Tests (MTT): A very extensive and intensive inspection covering a broad spectrum of gradable items including a room inspection and uniform inspections. An Officer Candidate will complete two Military Training Tests while at Officer Candidate School, one in week four and one in week nine.

Personnel Inspection Personnel inspection Personnel inspection

First Officer salutePersonnel Inspection (PI): A detailed inspection of uniform presentation and memorized knowledge. Exact measurements are taken of each component of the uniform to ensure compliance with regulations. Additionally, candidates are tested on their knowledge of required information. Officer Candidates will complete two Personnel Inspections while at Officer Candidate School, one in week six and the second in week ten. See a photo of my locker on 9th week inspection.

Drill: Approximately 98 hours are spent learning and practicing drill. Officer Candidates also march to and from every evolution.

Parade:  The Officer Candidate School graduation begins with the ceremonial parade, or "Pass in Review".  This carefully planned and executed evolution is the culmination of your 13 weeks at Officer Candidate School.

Commissioning Ceremony:  Your final exercise as an Officer Candidate is the Commissioning Ceremony.  This is your ultimate goal at Officer Candidate School, a commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy.
